The 4-star Camp Mond See Land is surrounded on one side by forest and on the other by well-kept meadows. On its edge is the Ritzinger Bach, which is one of the indirect tributaries of Lake Mondsee, about three kilometers as the crow flies from the camp. From the place we had a wonderful view of the panorama of the Alps. Upon arrival we were attracted by a nice modern reception, reminiscent of the atrium of a luxury hotel, rather than the entrance to the camp. Another pleasant surprise for us was the kind staff at the reception with roots in the Czech Republic, who helped us choose the ideal place for our large family tent and kindly helped with everything important. Camp Mond See Land has become an ideal starting point for trips to nearby and distant surroundings, either by bike or car and then on foot or by boat.
About the camp
Although the area ranks among medium to large camps, the camp was cozy, clean and airy. Part of the camp is a walking circuit to the stream and an inexhaustible number of paths, which we went around with a pram in the afternoon or evening before bed. In our opinion, the camp is an ideal base for a family with children or even with grandparents. You can enjoy a really nice indoor and heated swimming pool (from May to September), a beautiful playground, the opportunity to visit a top-rated inn, which is adjacent to the reception, with clean air and beautiful sunsets. The camp offers plenty of spacious and variously equipped places for camping. The neighbors were a little more closed than on trips in the south of Europe, but they were still nice people with whom we greeted each other and smiled at each other.

Camping equipment
Camp facilities:
All places have an electrical connection (16A) and WLAN. Most campsites also have a connection to clean water and sewage and differ mainly in size. The modern sanitary facilities, which are plentiful and well cared for, are deserted most of the time, because thanks to the presence of waste, people also use the comfort of their own caravans and motor homes. So we enjoyed nice showers and toilets only in a family circle. The camp is well maintained, so it is clean everywhere and nice to look at.
The campsite reception has a small shop where you can get basic groceries, healthy nibbles or a can of Coca-Cola. For larger purchases, we went to the 2 km distant Billa store or DM drugstore in the town of Mondsee.
Activities for children:
In addition to an interesting walk to the Ritzinger Bach, our children enjoyed the beautiful and spacious playground with a children's cable car, climbing frames and swings.
The best places for families with a large tent:
During our visit, we chose a premium plot of land in zone "E", which is large enough, as well as others beautifully grassed, has all the nets and its biggest advantages are the proximity of the course and beautiful sunsets. With a smaller holiday budget, we would easily choose zone Z, which allows only connection to electricity and is designed primarily for tents.
The most beautiful trips and tips in the area
Take the cable car from Wolfgangsee to the Zwölferhorn viewpoint
We started the trip by arriving at the parking lot to Lake Wolfgangsee at the bottom station of the cable car. After a trip by cable car with beautiful views of the surrounding mountains, we found a nice panoramic walking circuit, which we managed with two small children, one of whom most of the time rode a stroller.
From Sankt Gilgen to Falkenstein (Austria)
We started the trip by arriving at the parking lot to Lake Wolfgangsee. We took a beautiful hiking trail of medium difficulty to Falkenstein, a few kilometers away. The last part of the route was steeper and we carried the pram with the children on our shoulders. However, in this part of the route we proceeded through the forest, so we were comfortable even on a warm summer day. Don't expect any snacks along the way, he wants to have a snack and a drink in a bagel.
The reward for the descent was not only beautiful views, but also a trip back by boat to Sankt Gilgen.
A ride on the Wolfgangsee from Sankt Gilgen
Electric boat ride - a pleasant experience of a boat ride, while both our sons managed to arrange most of the route with the help of their parents. The boat moves quite slowly and noiselessly and it was a great experience for small children. https://www.wassersport-engel.at/elektroboote/

Very well rated family inn adjacent to the campsite reception. You can enjoy Austrian specialties - steaks, grilled specialties, as well as salads.
Tak Tak Döner (Mondsee)
If you like kebabs, we can highly recommend the local fast food. Great portion and great taste and it's on the way out of the trip.

Ice cream in Sankt Gilgen
They have excellent ice cream on the promenade near the boat rental.
